The T5 Golf data tools

Six purpose-built tools for the data-driven golfer. Each one answers a specific question: how wide is my dispersion, where are my real gaps, which stat predicts my score. Free tier covers the first 3 clubs; full bag and trend tracking on the $9/month plan.

1. Dispersion ellipse tracker

Plot your 95% dispersion ellipse per club from 30+ logged shots. Overlay it on a target fairway or green. See exactly how much landing area is in play for your real pattern – and where you’re losing strokes to spread. Auto-compares to handicap-tier benchmarks (scratch / 5-HC / 10-HC / 15-HC / 20-HC).

Use it when: You want to know if your driver dispersion is wider than the fairways you play, or if your 7-iron spread is wider than the greens you’re hitting into. Read more: driver benchmarks / 7-iron benchmarks / wedge proximity.

2. Gapping chart builder

Auto-built gapping chart across your full bag from 20+ shots per club. Calls out overlap (two clubs going the same distance) and gaps (more than 12 yards between consecutive clubs) so you know exactly which clubs to re-gap or swap out.

Use it when: You suspect your 7-iron and 8-iron go the same distance, or your gap wedge is doing two jobs. Read more: how to build a gapping chart.

3. Strokes-gained leak detector

Ranks your scoring leaks in stroke-cost order across SG: Off-the-Tee / Approach / Around-the-Green / Putting. Reliable after 5 rounds. Tells you exactly which category is costing you the most strokes per round and what to practice this week.

Use it when: You don’t know whether to practice your putting, approach play, short game, or driving. Read more: strokes-gained leak guide.

4. Sample-size indicator

Every stat in T5 has a sample-size flag: gray (less than 5 rounds, ignore), yellow (5-9 rounds, suggestive), green (10+ rounds, reliable), bold green (20+ rounds, statistically firm). You’ll never make a practice or equipment decision off thin data because the dashboard tells you when the data is still cooking.

Use it when: You’re tempted to buy a new driver after 8 launch-monitor swings, or change your putter grip after 3 bad rounds. Read more: sample-size rules.

5. Equipment A/B testing

Log 30 shots with Setup A and 30 with Setup B. T5 calculates the real statistical significance of the difference – so you know whether the new shaft is actually 4 yards longer or whether you just had a good day. Includes a “regression-to-mean” guardrail that flags single-session results as too small to act on.

Use it when: You’re testing two drivers, two ball models, two shafts. Read more: best launch monitors.

6. Course-strategy dispersion overlay

Before each hole, T5 overlays your real dispersion ellipse on the actual fairway and green from your tee box. You see exactly how much of the fairway is in play for your driver pattern, and how much of the green is in play for your approach club. Recommends the conservative aim offset that maximizes your fairway hit / GIR for the hole.

Use it when: You want to make better course-management decisions without overthinking. Read more: course-management framework.

Launch monitor integration

T5 syncs natively with the most-used amateur launch monitors so your range data flows automatically into every tool above:

  • Garmin Approach R10 ($599) – the best-value pick for amateurs
  • FlightScope Mevo+ ($2,000) – best mid-range for serious practice
  • Bushnell Launch Pro ($3,500) – best photometric for indoor club fitting
  • Rapsodo MLM2 Pro ($700) – budget radar with sim mode
  • Shot Scope V5 ($300) – sensor-based on-course automation

Don’t have a launch monitor yet? T5 works on phone alone (tap-to-log per shot). See the 2026 launch monitor buyer’s guide for the full breakdown.
